1Password makes passwords easy

Passwords suck, but they’re a fact of life. So most people remember 1 or 2 passwords and use them everywhere. You use the same password for Facebook, Instagram, your Gmail … and maybe even your bank?

If one of those sites got compromised, you could be screwed because you used the same password everywhere else. The smart thing to do is to use unique passwords for each site. But nobody can remember so many different passwords!

So don’t. With 1Password, you only remember a single master password. 1Password will remember the rest. I made this video to show you how easy it is.

1Password can literally log you into websites with your fingerprint. (Watch the video above)

I love love love 1Password and couldn’t live without it. I use it to store my passwords, medical information, memberships and lots of other stuff. I hope this video gives you an idea of how 1Password can immediately help you to improve how you handle passwords.

1Password is available for Mac, PC, iOS and Android and only costs $3 a month. Learn more and signup at 1password.com

Mobile scanner app showdown: Scanner Pro vs DocScanner

IMG_1830

I’m making it a point to go paperless. Instead of keeping piles of dead trees lying around, I’ll convert them to digital scans and make them available to me through the cloud. The first step is converting my paper documents to digital format. For full page documents, a dedicated scanner is the best solution but for receipts, business cards and small slips of paper a mobile scanner app is better.

I tested 2 scanner applications for the iPhone – Scanner Pro by Readdle and DocScanner by Haave Oy. Scanner Pro is the market leader and costs $6.99 (iTunes link). Unfortunately, that app really sucked. Luckily I found a great replacement – DocScanner, $4.99 (iTunes link). Here is a quick review if you are looking for a good mobile scanner app too. Read More »

TieSight – super clever Mac app

03_audio_full.jpg

Here’s one of the more clever Mac app that I’ve come across lately. TieSight is an app that helps you tie the perfect necktie knot using your Mac’s iSight camera. How cool is that?

I don’t wear neckties myself but I could see myself using this app. It’s also really affordable at only $0.99. Check out the official website or directly on the Mac App Store.

Great comparison of  Simplenote, Elements, PlainText, and Nebulous Notes, all note-taking apps that I’ve used before. Summary: Elements by Second Gear is the winner.
