Here’s my submission to Cikipedia’s Healthy Getaway Weekend. At stake: a 2-night stay at Pangkor Laut resort for two! That would make a really nice present for my birthday later this month ;)
I’m pretty bad at exercising. Before I moved out of Kajang I had friends to play futsal and soccer with occasionally but now I really don’t get enough physical activity as much as I would like to have.
So in recent weeks I have started a new routine. I wake up at 6.00 am and go for a brisk walk around the Kota Kemuning lake. The track around the lake is about 2km, and it’s another 1km to my house, so at the minimum it’s a 3km walk.
It’s still early days and currently I’m only managing it once a week, but I aim to make it a regular activity that I do maybe 3 times a week.
The other workout activity I do using my standing desk (because sitting kills). Instead of sitting down at work, I stand up while working on my computer. It’s really tough physically, and my feet, calves, thighs, hips and back all have to work hard to support me. I actually only stand 60% – 70% of the time, and alternate between a bar stool and standing.
And of course, I also chase Zack around the house every day. That’s not insignificant by any means. He’s 13.5 kg and puts a real strain on my arms and shoulders when carrying him!
Will report on my exercise regime during my annual year in review. In the meantime, fingers crossed for the contest. Contest ends 5pm on 27 July 2012. Hurry up and take part too!
